Lorelei's shadowbox challenge

shadowboxes from C Koop beads.  You can see mine toward the upper right hand corner.

Lorelei Eutro held a fun shadowbox challenge for lucky blog readers.  Of course when my shadowbox arrived I procrastinated.  It was a rectangle with colors ranging from plum to lavender.  That stumped me for a while, but the beautiful copper underneath the purples got me in the end!

I had some lampwork beads that I got at Another Bead Please in my old neighborhood in Ahwatukee, Phoenix, AZ.  That added some white and blue to the mix.  For the shadowbox, I added a British stamp from the 1960s and dangled a key that I found.

I don't usually mix metals, but I think the brass is sufficiently aged that if works with the copper.  And the copper chain is not too bright.  I cannot wait to order some more of these shadowboxes and make some bracelets!

Thanks for the great challenge, Lorelei!

Beautiful color palette! I like the lampwork you used- they go perfectly with the box. I like that stamp you put inside too- adds so much interest and looks great behind the dangling beads! Thank you for participating! Please feel free to add your pics to the flickr group I created for the participants: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1740275@N20/

The stamp is a lovely focal, a miniature work of art itself. I use stamps myself, quite a bit., so of course I love the idea! I like the blue seed bead links as well, nice job!

That stamp was such a great idea! I really enjoy the purple with the copper, it's a nice play of colors. This is a great design!

Love the stamp idea. My best friend in the whole world recently lost her father. He collected and sold stamps his whole life. So I think your piece is just wonderful!

You have some nice found objects. I especially like the purple stamp because of the color and its graphic presence. I remember when mixing metals was a no-no. Now, I do it all the time!
